Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to seal straight passage to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a well-taken finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season were no match even for a mostly rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee injuries.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
